Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Does P321485 include an ignition method and a pot?
Primus lists a piezo igniter and nylon bag for this article; gas and cookware are separate. The product photo's red cartridge is not package evidence.
Explore this need in the finder →Can P321485 use a separate windscreen or an arbitrary threaded cartridge?
The linked 321484 family instructions prohibit covering the stove or cartridge and name Primus 2202/2206/2207 cartridge codes. They do not establish EN 417 or compatibility with MSR 80/20 or JetPower; confirm the exact P321485 leaflet and unit label.
Explore this need in the finder →Is the US page's 83 g entry a verified minimum, and what is its maximum pot size?
The US page lists 83 g, but the same article's official regional page lists 103 g and neither gives a minimum-weight basis. No maximum cookware diameter is stated. Both questionnaire fields therefore remain unknown for this assessment.
Explore this need in the finder →Scope: This source-based assessment covers US Primus Express Backpacking Stove with Piezo P321485 / UPC 7330033914283. I did not own, connect, ignite, weigh or cook on it. Its wattage and boil-time descriptions are manufacturer statements, not tests. The linked family sheet is printed for 321484, so it is a safety bridge, not proof of all regional details.
A foldable burner when a separate pot is part of the plan
P321485 is a top-mounted gas stove: its valve sits directly on a compatible cartridge, and its supports fold for carrying. Primus describes a narrow, high-speed flame, a controllable valve, an included piezo igniter and a nylon storage bag. It does not come with cookware or gas. This is a simple burner-and-pot arrangement rather than an integrated pot system, so the traveler chooses the pot, lid, utensils and fuel package separately. That flexibility is useful only if the complete cookware footprint and cartridge are checked before the trip.
The manufacturer's “big pots” wording does not supply a maximum cookware diameter. The 131 mm page dimension is not a tested pan limit, and the image's cartridge and support shape cannot establish a safe loaded-pot size. Choose a stable, centered pot and check handle clearance against the supports. This is a cartridge-mounted burner, not a remote-canister layout; neither its 83 g listing nor a photo proves stability.
Fuel and ignition: check the exact label, not just the thread
The US product page says to attach the stove to a gas canister and confirms that gas is sold separately. Primus's official instructions linked from its product information say to use the named Primus 2202, 2206 or 2207 propane/butane-family cartridges, and caution against other cartridge types. They describe fitting the valve squarely to the cartridge and checking the seal outdoors with soapy water, not a flame. The document's printed model code is 321484 while the US Piezo retail article is P321485; although the page describes the ignition feature and the manual discusses the piezo as standard or optional, this review does not turn that file into a universal compatibility certificate. Confirm the exact stove label, current instructions and cartridge code supplied for the specific US unit. No fuel is included.
The piezo feature is a convenient included ignition method, not a guarantee that ignition will work in every condition or a reason to leave a lighter behind. The first gallery image also shows a red canister, but Primus's page states gas is not included. Check package contents on the exact offer, and carry any backup ignition equipment required by the trip plan rather than assuming the photo is a parts list.
Wind resistance is not permission to add a shield
Primus calls the flame wind-resistant, but the linked 321484 instruction sheet expressly warns not to cover the stove or cartridge with a windscreen, stones or similar objects. That is a real limitation: the wind-oriented flame description cannot override a warning about heat accumulating around the cartridge. This arrangement therefore does not meet a hard requirement for a separately approved screen. Choose an exposed site carefully, keep the cartridge upright, operate outdoors on a firm level surface, and follow the exact instruction sheet's clearances and leak checks. Never improvise a foil wall or wrap the cartridge.
The linked family sheet specifies 500 mm minimum combustible clearance at the sides and above, outdoor operation and a level surface. It is not a substitute for the current leaflet packaged with the stove: if that exact P321485 instruction differs or is newer, follow it and the unit label rather than another Primus model's rules.
Light by the page table, but not a verified minimum
Primus's US table lists 83 g, 2600 W and a fuel-consumption figure of 185 g/h. The 83 g entry is a page-listed stove value, not explicitly a minimum stove-only weight or the weight of a complete carried cook kit, so this assessment leaves the numeric minimum-weight field unknown. The official German product page for the same article P321485 lists 103 g, a regional discrepancy that is not resolved by the product variant record. This is why 83 g is not used as a hard match for a weight cap.
The US page narrative says a liter can boil in three and a half minutes, while its technical table labels another “regular pot” boiling time as 2.30 minutes without explaining the test conditions. The exact value, pot, water amount and timing basis are not reconciled here, and neither statement is a measurement from this review. Treat the advertised 2600 W as a manufacturer rating, not proof of windy-weather output, fuel efficiency or a stable low simmer. The adjustable valve supports changing heat; it does not establish the minimum flame or simmer stability.
How it differs from the Micron III and other small burners
The Micron III P321492 is the other current Primus top-mounted burner in this group: Primus lists it at 58 g and describes a very compact folded package, but its US page does not offer the P321485 Piezo package's stated ignition feature. Micron's exact US manual was not located, and its pot diameter and minimum weight remain unknown too. The two models therefore share broad one-burner water-heating intent, not proven safety-instruction, fuel-blend or cookware-limit equivalence. For a different named-fuel comparison, read the MSR PocketRocket 2 assessment; its EN 417 and 80/20 facts come from its own manual and should not be transferred to Primus.
P321485 suits a walker who values folding supports and piezo ignition, can source the exact named Primus cartridge, and will choose cookware separately. It is a poor fit for an integrated pot kit, a confirmed pan limit, a verified sub-100 g minimum, an approved separate screen, or named MSR 80/20 / JetPower compatibility. Before buying, verify P321485 / UPC 7330033914283, obtain the exact leaflet, confirm cartridge and seal, and check pot stability. Price, stock and seller package are not promised.
