A useful fit for

For an existing OD-1NP owner or buyer considering an exact used unit who can source the specified SOTO Wide Mouth bottle and allowed gasoline, accepts pumping and leak checks, and needs one burner.

The main tradeoff

This discontinued remote liquid-fuel system requires the specific bottle, pump, external ignition, fuel handling and inspection steps. The bottle is separate; premium fuel and operation below -20 C are prohibited; loaded cookware is limited to 8 in and 10 lb.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Which liquid fuel and bottle does the Muka manual allow?

The OD-1NP manual permits white gasoline or regular unleaded gasoline, not premium or other liquids, and requires SOTO's Wide Mouth bottle. CampSaver's archived US offer says the bottle was sold separately. Verify the bottle, pump and seals on any surviving unit; the spare generator page does not prove complete-stove availability.

Can a windscreen be used around the Muka?

Only a SOTO-approved windscreen intended for Muka is permitted. Never cover the fuel bottle, which can become dangerously hot. Do not transfer a screen or setup from another SOTO model.

How large or heavy a pot can it support, and how light is the stove?

The manual sets an 8-inch cookware ceiling and 10 lb combined pan-and-food maximum. It lists 163 g bare and 327 g with pump; the separate bottle, fuel and cookware add to the system. Stop below -20 C because an O-ring may harden and leak.

The Muka Stove OD-1NP is a discontinued, remote liquid-fuel burner, not a canister stove. CampSaver’s archived US listing identifies the exact model as OD-1NP and UPC 4953571093727, then marks it discontinued. SOTO still publishes the model’s English manual and sells a Muka generator replacement part, but those facts do not establish a current complete-stove offer or the condition of any used unit. Treat this review as an identification and instruction comparison for the exact model, not a promise of availability or an account of hands-on use.

Fuel and start-up define the routine

The manual permits white gasoline or regular unleaded gasoline only. It specifically warns against premium gasoline and other liquids because additives can clog the generator. It also requires SOTO’s Wide Mouth fuel bottle; the bottle is separate in the archived US listing. Do not assume that another bottle, a similarly shaped pump, or a different liquid-fuel stove’s bottle will fit safely. The manual calls out inspection of the bottle lip and the pump’s P-34 O-ring for dust, cuts or deformation, and says to stop if a leak is found.

Unlike a traditional liquid-fuel stove that asks the user to prime a burner, SOTO describes the Muka generator as designed for non-priming, instantaneous ignition. That removes one distinct setup step, but it does not make the process casual: the manual has a prescribed bottle-fill line, pump and pressure-indicator checks, a STOP/START/RUN/AIR control, and a required external ignition source. The first few seconds after START release air before the fuel-air mixture reaches the burner, and the instructions warn that ignition can begin with a strong, leaping flame. Keep your face and body away from above the burner, follow the exact sequence and do not light a unit that smells of fuel or has a suspected leak.

Small burner body, separate pump and bottle

SOTO lists the bare stove body at 163 g and the stove with its pump at 327 g. These are not complete cooking-kit weights: the separate fuel bottle, liquid, cookware and any spare parts add to the carried load. The body folds to 8.0 × 6.5 × 8.0 cm, while its in-use dimensions are 13.5 × 13.5 × 8.0 cm. The pump and bottle are separate pieces that must be connected in the specified way, and the manual says not to bend the flexible hose more than 90 degrees. It also requires keeping the hose-and-pump connection clean and checking for leaks before lighting.

The manual sets a maximum cookware diameter of 21 cm / 8 in and a maximum combined pan-and-food weight of 4.5 kg / 10 lb. Those two limits matter together: a pan can be within the diameter ceiling yet still overload the support when filled. It is a single-burner stove, so there is no second cooking position for a pan or kettle while another pot is heating. SOTO publishes 4,650 W / 15,800 BTU, but that specification is not an independent boil-time test or evidence that every meal will cook faster.

Wind protection is specifically constrained

For a separate windscreen, the manual allows only SOTO-approved screens designed for the Muka. It also makes a critical distinction: do not cover the fuel bottle with a windscreen, and do not expose the bottle to heat. A generic foil shield or a screen borrowed from another stove is not an approved substitute. The included manual describes a reflective sheet for snow use, but says reflected heat can melt the snow beneath it; check that the base has not become unstable. The manual also says not to use two Muka stoves side-by-side.

The instructions require outdoor-only use and clear space from flammable material—at least 1 m / 3 ft at the sides and 1.5 m / 5 ft overhead. Stop operating below −20°C / −4°F because the O-ring can harden and leak. These limits, the volatile liquid fuel, and the pump-and-bottle checks make the Muka a different ownership task from a small screw-on cartridge stove, even though the burner body itself is compact.

Who might still compare an OD-1NP

The documented case for this older model is a one-burner liquid-fuel routine where the owner already has the correct SOTO bottle and accepts the pump, fuel handling, manual ignition and inspection steps. The Muka’s specified fuels differ from the propane cylinders used by SOTO’s former Two Burner Stove OD-2AL, and the Muka must not be connected to StormBreaker gas-valve equipment. Current SOTO canister models have simpler cartridge connections but use different fuels and support rules; they are not automatic replacements for a Muka’s fuel plan.

Before considering an existing unit, confirm OD-1NP on the stove, pump and manual; check that the bottle is the SOTO Wide Mouth type; inspect the bottle lip, pump seal, hose and generator; and confirm that the exact needed approved screen and maintenance parts are available. Read the complete current manual and any safety notices before use. This assessment has no verified live offer, does not establish the provenance or service history of an individual stove and cannot substitute for SOTO’s instructions.
