Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Which cartridge may I attach to GigaPower Manual Renewed GS-100R2-US?
The exact GS-100R2 instructions say to use Snow Peak-designated gas canisters only. The US page labels the fuel Iso-butane, but the manual does not certify a generic EN 417 cartridge or equate this system with MSR 80/20 or Jetboil JetPower. Check the current canister label and exact manual; fuel is sold separately.
Explore this need in the finder →What cookware size is documented for the exact Manual Renewed model?
The manufacturer manual for base model GS-100R2 allows usable pots up to 14 cm diameter and 2.0 L capacity, excludes Dutch ovens, and does not claim that every pot of that size is stable. Confirm the pan base and handles on a level setup.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the Manual Renewed stove have its own push-button ignition?
The exact US listing is named Manual Renewed and lists no auto-igniter; the related GS-100R2 model manual describes lighting with a separate match or lighter. Pack that ignition source rather than assuming the Auto SKU's piezo unit is included.

A folding single burner for a deliberately small pot
The manufacturer describes GS-100R2-US as a lightweight backpacking stove with four folding supports, a control lever and a storage case. Snow Peak lists 10,000 BTU, 75 g (2.64 oz), a 4.17-inch diameter and 2.65-inch height. The product page says fuel is sold separately and lists only the stove and case in the contents. It is a one-burner layout, so it cannot cook two pans at the same time; a group still has one heat source and one position.
The exact GS-100R2 model manual sets a useful limit that the product headline alone does not convey: usable pots up to 14 cm (about 5.5 inches) and 2.0 L, with Dutch ovens excluded. This is a manufacturer cookware boundary, not a statement that every pot under it will sit safely on a narrow support pattern. Compare the pot's base, handles and center of gravity with the unfolded supports on a level, stable surface. Do not use the stove body's listed diameter as the pot limit, and do not assume that a larger vessel is safe because it can physically rest on the supports.
Manual lighting is the functional difference
The current US product is titled “Manual Renewed” and lists no auto-igniter. Its exact model manual describes lighting with a separate match or lighter and a flame-control knob; bring that ignition source rather than relying on the related Auto model's piezo. The page also says the fuel lever has a rubber coating. That product update is useful identification detail, not proof that the entire burner or manual has been redesigned. The separate GigaPower Stove 2.0 - Auto, SKU GS-100AR2-US, adds a listed integrated auto-igniter but is a distinct configuration.
Both the product page and exact GS-100R2 manual describe a controllable flame. That supports adjustable output, but does not independently show a stable simmer at a particular pan size, outside temperature or wind level. Snow Peak's 10,000-BTU figure is a manufacturer rating. No independent boil-time or simmer test is claimed here.
Do not substitute a similar-looking fuel canister
The US page lists Iso-butane; the exact GS-100R2 manufacturer manual says to use Snow Peak-designated fuel canisters only. That narrower instruction matters more than a broad assumption based on a similar screw-on connector. The exact page and manual do not establish that MSR 80/20, Jetboil JetPower or every EN 417 cartridge is compatible. Fuel is sold separately, so verify the canister's exact label and the instructions for the specific unit before purchase or use. Do not add an adapter or other fuel arrangement unless Snow Peak explicitly documents it for this model.
Manual provenance and safety limits
The current US GS-100R2-US page links a one-page English manual titled GS-100R, not GS-100R2. I did not silently treat that linked document as an exact-SKU manual. A separate two-page manufacturer-hosted manual names the matching base model GS-100R2, but it is in Japanese; the exact model code supports the 14 cm / 2.0 L cookware limit and manual configuration described here, while the language difference remains a real limitation. If the unit's paper instructions or label differ, follow the current exact-unit documentation or ask Snow Peak before use.
The exact model manual describes outdoor-only operation and says to inspect the canister connection and its seal; it does not establish approval for a separate windscreen. Do not treat the product's compactness or the four pot arms as permission to wrap the burner or cartridge in foil. Use the stove outside in a clear, stable location and follow the complete manual for lighting, leaks, cooling, canister removal and storage. This review is not a substitute for those instructions.
Seventy-five grams is not a trip-weight promise
The current page and exact GS-100R2 manual both list 75 g, which is better aligned than the Auto variant's page/manual pair, but neither calls this a minimum weight. The case, canister, cookware and meal supplies change the carried load, and the listing does not define a complete fueled cooking kit. The finder therefore leaves manufacturer minimum weight unknown rather than converting the 75 g page figure into a hard pass. A separate-windscreen requirement also remains unfilled because the exact manual permission was not established.
CPSC's older Snow Peak Giga Power recall concerns the white-gas GS-010 stove and pump, not the GS-100R2 direct-mount canister model. A targeted search did not surface a GS-100R2 notice, but neither observation is a safety clearance or a promise about future notices. Check the model code on the stove, package and instructions rather than relying on the shared “GigaPower” name.
How it compares with GigaPower Auto
The Auto GS-100AR2-US shares the one-burner layout, four folding supports, maker-listed 10,000-BTU output, Snow Peak-designated canister rule and the matching 14 cm / 2.0 L cookware ceiling. The meaningful sourced difference is ignition: Auto lists a built-in igniter, while Manual Renewed does not. Current product pages list the Manual Renewed at 75 g and Auto at 120 g, but Auto's exact GS-100AR2 manual reports 90 g, so do not rely on the apparent page-to-page weight gap as a precise measured comparison. Choose the Manual Renewed if manual lighting is acceptable and its exact canister is available; consider Auto only if its igniter feature matters and you will still carry backup ignition.
This is a narrow-fit option for someone who wants one compact, manually lit burner, can obtain Snow Peak's designated fuel and has a pot within the exact model limit. It is not a match for a requirement for push-button ignition, two simultaneous burners, larger cookware, a confirmed approved windscreen or a manufacturer-listed minimum-weight cap. Verify GS-100R2-US, the separate fuel requirement and current exact-unit instructions on the offer; do not confuse it with Auto GS-100AR2-US or with the older GS-100R manual linked from the page.
