Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
What is different about Triton+ SKU 2157318 compared with Triton SKU 2157352?
Coleman identifies the 2157318 listing as Triton+, model 5461, with push-button Instastart; the 2157352 Triton listing is the separate match-lit configuration. Check the exact SKU and ignition type rather than treating the shared model-family number as proof that their packages are identical.
Explore this need in the finder →Does Triton+ require a special connection for a larger propane cylinder?
The 5461 Series manual allows a refillable cylinder up to 20 lb only with the Coleman Propane Adaptor With Hose model 5475. That arrangement is distinct from the 16 oz disposable cylinder and is not included with the stove.
Explore this need in the finder →Can its built-in wind guards be supplemented with a separate screen?
The product page and manual document two attached guards, but I found no approval for adding a separate windscreen. Do not transfer a screen procedure from another stove or improvise a reflector; follow the exact 5461 instructions.
Explore this need in the finder →The Triton+ is a distinct electronic-ignition configuration, not simply another name for the match-lit Coleman Triton already assessed on this site. Coleman’s US page identifies the Triton+ as model 5461 / SKU 2157318 and specifies push-button Instastart, two burners and two included wind guards. The non-plus Triton listing is SKU 2157352 and uses match lighting. This review follows the exact 2157318 page, its linked 5461-series instructions and the manufacturer image; it does not claim hands-on operation or measured performance.
Two adjustable burners and a named pan arrangement
Coleman lists independently adjustable burners, simmer-control language and 22,000 BTU/h total input. Its page specifies one 10-inch pot plus one 12-inch pot, which is more useful than interpreting the larger headline number as cooking space. The linked 5461 instructions identify 11,000 BTU/h per burner. That even division is a manufacturer specification, not proof that the burners produce identical cooking results or that a particular meal will be faster. The maker’s “up to one hour on high” statement uses one 16-ounce cylinder and is not a prediction for your flame setting or conditions.
The rotary controls give separate adjustment for the two positions, and the page promotes “simmering control.” I treat that as a feature claim, not an independently tested low-flame range. For a two-pan meal, compare the actual pan bases, handles and lid-panel clearance with the listed 10/12-inch pair. A large pan does not necessarily fit next to another vessel just because the largest listed position is 12 inches.
Read the right fuel instructions for this version
The 5461 Series manual specifies pressure-regulated propane, Coleman’s 5430 preset regulator, and a 16-ounce disposable cylinder. It also describes a separate refillable-cylinder configuration up to 20 pounds only with Coleman Propane Adaptor With Hose model 5475. That hose and cylinder are not part of the listed stove package; the product page says the disposable cylinder is sold separately. These two arrangements should not be mixed, and the manual says not to invert the cylinder. For the refillable setup, follow the exact instructions for attaching, leak-checking, shutting down, disconnecting and storing the named parts. Do not substitute a generic adapter or RV connection based on appearance.
Coleman’s exact product page links a 5461 manual, but its Scene7 target returned 404 when checked. The accessible copy reviewed here is the Coleman-authored 2023 5461 Series document, part 4010020340 (ECN0067518-G), which contains both standard and Instastart instructions and is identified by the official page’s Product Manual link. Because the manual says the model may vary from the illustration, check the label on the actual unit and use the current instructions supplied with SKU 2157318 if available.
Wind protection has an important limit
The package list includes two lid-mounted wind guards and a removable chrome-plated grate. Those guards are part of the design; the 5461 instructions show their positioning during setup and require 12 inches from the sides and 48 inches above combustible materials. They do not establish permission for a separate windscreen or foil reflector. No such separate-screen approval was found in the product page or manual copy checked. The manual also directs outdoor-only use, a stable flat surface and leak checks with soapy water. Never use this type of flame to test for leaks, and do not take an outdoor stove into a tent, vehicle, camper, or home.
There is a carry-handle discrepancy
The page’s description says a built-in carry handle makes it easier to move, but the specification table says “Carry Handle: No.” The manufacturer hero shows an open black two-burner stove with side guards, two controls and a red push-button igniter; it does not settle that conflicting listing field. I leave handle status unresolved. At 11.900 pounds and 23 by 13.75 by 5.75 inches, it is plainly a table or vehicle-camping scale in the manufacturer’s listed dimensions, but the weight is not labeled as minimum, packaged or fueled. It therefore does not enter the finder’s minimum-weight field. Check the exact 2157318 offer and handle hardware before purchase if transport ergonomics matter.
How it compares with the match-lit Triton and Cascade
Compared with the Triton SKU 2157352, this version’s cited distinction is push-button electronic ignition; both listings are in the 5461 family, but their exact configurations should remain separate. Compared with Cascade Classic, Triton+ is listed at 22,000 rather than 20,000 BTU/h and shares a two-pan 10/12-inch layout; Classic uses rotary ignition and has a different page identifier pair. The Cascade 222 also lists two pans and rotary ignition, while the Cascade 328 adds a third burner with a different cooktop arrangement. These differences are useful for narrowing a shortlist, but they do not rank tested flame quality or establish which listing is in stock.
Shortlist conditions
Consider Triton+ when two adjustable propane burners, the stated pan pairing and push-button Instastart are genuinely useful. It is not a one-burner hiking stove, and it cannot meet a requirement for MSR’s threaded 80/20 canister blend or a separately approved windscreen. Verify that the page or package is SKU 2157318, that it is the electronic-ignition Triton+ rather than match-lit 2157352, that the two guards and grate match the package listing, and that the current manual is available. Check the handle discrepancy, fuel sold separately, listed weight basis, retailer’s exact contents and all required clearances before deciding.
