Plan the whole cook kit, not burner weight alone
Published minimum burner weight can help compare designs, but the stove's weight is not the weight of cooking. Add the fuel container, cookware, ignition backup, wind protection or stability equipment, storage pouch and any required adapter before deciding what belongs in a backpack or vehicle.
GS-600SLSTRGSET: a stove plus its named Storage Bag
The exact Snow Peak Home & Camp Burner Set package adds a padded, partitioned Storage Bag to the Silver one-burner GS-600; it does not change the burner, designated CB-butane cartridge or cookware and windscreen instructions. The set page lists 3.64 lb / 1.65 kg and bag dimensions of 10.2 × 3.5 × 10.2 inches, while the feed records 1,651 g. Neither source labels that as minimum stove-only weight or a complete fueled load; no separate bag mass is published. The bag is described as holding the burner and up to two gas canisters, but the manufacturer says CB Butane is separate. Review the exact package evidence and limitations. Open the same one-burner, adjustable-output, 11.5-inch scenario; its manual limits and lack of a minimum-weight figure remain separate checks.
SCS-005TK: nested cookware is not a complete trip load
The exact current-US Backpacking Starter Kit SCS-005TK lists one GigaPower Stove 2.0 - Auto, a Titanium Trek 700 pot and a Titanium Spork. Snow Peak says the burner nests in the pot and the spork stows at the lid notch; those are package and storage facts, not a claim that fuel, a carrying case or every meal component is included. Fuel is separate and the exact burner manual requires a Snow Peak-designated cartridge. The kit page's 260 g figure is not labelled as bare-burner minimum or full system mass, and the collection feed's 4,150 g field is unscoped and conflicting. Count the actual pot, fuel, ignition backup and any approved storage or support equipment for the trip rather than using either number as a total. The exact SCS-005TK review explains the kit/manual distinction and the unresolved GP-008 windscreen warning. Open the same one-burner, water-heating and 5.5-inch cookware scenario; the 14 cm burner maximum is not a cookware stability guarantee.
Kovea Container Stove KGB-2401CP: folded size is not carry weight
Kovea lists an 83 × 124 × 85 mm folded outline for the exact KGB-2401CP. BIGTENT gives a slightly different folded size and a 739 g weight without saying whether that mass is bare, minimum, packaged or fueled; keep both dimensional values separate and do not use 739 g as a manufacturer minimum. The retailer names a carrying bag in its package list, but check the exact offer and contents rather than inferring them from a photograph. The complete canister interface, fuel inclusion, cookware maximum and full operating directions remain unverified, so the folded form alone is not a ready-to-cook carry plan. Read the KGB-2401CP assessment and confirm the exact manual, package and canister before travel.
Compare like with like
Separate minimum stove weight from packaged weight and from a full cook system. If a kit includes a pot or stand, use its exact listing rather than adding a theoretical accessory. If an offer does not say whether a canister or cookware is included, ask the seller or check the package contents; a manufacturer image can show separate fuel for context.
For the standalone MSR PocketRocket Deluxe, the manufacturer publishes 83 g minimum weight and 97 g packaged weight. A retailer feed contains a different 82 g variant field; this guide uses the consumer Tech Specs and keeps the discrepancy in the dossier. Neither number includes a complete meal, fuel canister and the exact cookware you plan to carry.
For the standalone MSR PocketRocket 2, MSR publishes 73 g minimum and 105 g packaged weight; its public variant field says 74 g. The review keeps that discrepancy visible and uses the consumer Tech Specs. Neither figure includes the full fuel-and-cookware system.
The Switch page lists 117 g minimum stove-only weight and 392 g for the complete system. The same page says the nestable 4 oz / 110 g IsoPro canister is sold separately, so fuel must be added to the trip load; verify the package contents on the exact offer rather than inferring them from its product photo.
Remember the weight of stability
A compact top-mounted burner may need a canister support when using a larger or taller container. That can change the total carry kit. The PocketRocket Deluxe manual names MSR's Universal Canister Stand or LowDown Remote Stove Adapter for containers beyond its 8 oz or 4-inch stability threshold, with a 16 oz absolute canister maximum. Those constraints belong in the pack plan, not in an aftermarket workaround.
Plan fuel transport separately
Fuel rules may differ between airlines, carriers and jurisdictions, and they can change. MSR's manual tells travelers to ask the airline about the stove and fuel; check the current carrier and relevant authority rules before booking. Do not assume an empty-looking container is clean or acceptable for transport. Follow the manual's exact preparation and local requirements.
Know where the kit will live
In a vehicle, protect the stove and canister from movement, heat and damage, and follow label storage instructions. In a pack, isolate sharp supports and valves from fabrics and keep fuel containers in the stated orientation. At home, store the fuel away from ignition and heat sources, in a well-ventilated area where required by the label.
Transport is part of fit: if the approved fuel is difficult to source or the required support adds more bulk than the trip allows, reconsider the stove before departure.
MSR lists the WindBurner Personal at 433 g minimum and 465 g packaged, with the 4 oz IsoPro canister sold separately. The variant feed also carries a 434 g figure without a stated minimum-versus-packaged basis. Keep the maker's named values separate, add fuel and personal cookware to the trip load, and do not mistake the 1.0 L vessel for a complete fueled weight.
The current Reactor systems are heavier matched-pot packages, not bare 400–600 g burners: MSR lists minimum weights of 420 g for the 1.0 L system (SKU 14268), 490 g for 1.7 L (SKU 14269) and 610 g for 2.5 L (SKU 06902); listed packaged weights are 430 g, 500 g and 620 g respectively. The MSR fuel canister is sold separately. Variant-feed weights of 422 g, 493 g and 607 g have no stated basis, so they are retained separately rather than treated as measured or substituted for the named minimum-weight values. Choose among these capacity and weight steps only after accounting for the fuel and the actual meal.
